Milton Rum Distillery
Brisbane’s very own award-winning boutique distiller, Milton Rum Distillery, has found a new home in Albion, and it’s looking better than ever!
The new digs are located in Craft’d Grounds, an old timber mill that’s been transformed into an artisan-focused dining and drinking precinct. How cool is that? And, get this, the 20sqm distillery is right beside Collingwood Black’s cocktail bar, which you can access via a super trendy laneway.
The distillery is home to a striking vertical copper still that’s one of the most energy and resource-efficient stills in Australia. It’s custom-made and can produce up to a whopping 150,000 bottles per year, all at a fraction of the cost of other distilleries. Plus, it’s been designed by chemical engineer Alexander Bell, who co-founded Milton Rum with Asa Boardman. Talk about impressive!
But wait, there’s more! The distillery is named after the original Milton Rum Distillery, which was one of Queensland’s largest rum producers, destroyed during a flood in 1893 and never reopened. The new Milton Rum Distillery was also devastated by flooding earlier this year, but it’s back and better than ever in its new home.
The boutique rum distillery offers tastings in a gorgeous old-world inspired space, complete with vaulted ceilings and plenty of timber. There are tables, chairs, and even a leather couch to chill out on. It’s the perfect spot for groups of up to 12 to sample the range of award-winning rums before popping over to Collingwood Black’s bar to sip on some specially-curated cocktails made using the distillery’s spirits. We highly recommend the Milton Mojito – it’s a game-changer!
And let’s not forget about the range of craft spirits on offer. Milton Rum has something for everyone, including its signature Spice Cane Spirit, Spanish Inspired Dark Rum, Brazilian Inspired Aguardente, and a Coffee And Cane Spirit, made in collaboration with neighbouring Seven Miles Coffee Roaster. Yum!
So what are you waiting for? Get your friends together and head on over to Milton Rum Distillery in Albion. We promise you won’t regret it!
