Founded in 2017 by experienced brewer and distiller Wes Marks, along with his wife Amy, the distillery is driven by a passion to create world-class Australian whisky, gin, and rum on a small batch scale.
Located in the picturesque Atherton Tablelands of Far North Queensland, the Wondecla distillery benefits from unique weather patterns shaped by the Great Dividing Range. This exceptional climate provides the perfect environment for aging Australian whisky, making the distillery’s location truly remarkable.
Throughout the year, the valley experiences cool nights and winter frosts, with temperatures dropping as low as -12 degrees. Coupled with the pure mountain water sourced from the region, these natural elements create an ideal setting for producing world-class spirits, giving their Australian whisky a distinct character as it matures in oak barrels.
